You will be welcomed to New Zealand by your local New Zealand driver guide (or collected from your accommodation) and taken on a city tour around the Garden City as well as discovering some of its hidden view points and local spots. This private city tour includes a visit to ‘The Sign of the Kiwi’, the most panoramic of Christchurch’s viewpoints, a stroll in the botanic gardens and drive around the bays of Christchurch taking in Lyttelton which was the gateway for many of Christchurch and the Canterbury region’s first settlers. Tonight there is the possibility of enjoying dinner in one of the city’s newly reopened restaurants and discovering some of the local nightlife hot spots with your guide.
Today we head south and skirt through the picturesque villages of Geraldine and Fairlie to arrive at one of the South Island’s hidden local ski-fields. The ski area offers wide, open, uncrowded runs and a rope tow, platter, T-Bar and triple chairlift provide access to a variety of beginner, intermediate and advanced trails. We will spend the day skiing or snowboarding on what has been dubbed the “Largest, sunniest slope in New Zealand.” Later this afternoon we will journey through to Lake Tekapo and its pristine turquoise coloured waters and enjoy a dip in Tekapo’s Thermal springs. Your accommodation for the evening is situated on the shores of Lake Tekapo.
Today we will take the trip to one of our favourite look-out spots with views over Lake Tekapo where one has the feeling of being on top of the world. Boasting stunning views of the canals, lakes and mountains makes for stunning photography. Our next stop is Mt Cook Village, where we will take a short hike in one of our favourite locations featuring superb views of Mt Cook and the surrounding glaciers. We then head through to Ohau Skifield. Enjoy the flat wide slopes at the top of the mountain and cruise down the Boulevard while taking in the stunning views of Lake Ohau and the surrounding mountains. Your lodge accommodation for this evening is nestled at the bottom of the skifield road in the heart of the Mackenzie Country.
Leaving the Mackenzie country and crossing the Lindis Pass (965m). Our first stop today is the picturesque town of Cromwell, known for its booming fruit and wine industry. We will make a stop en route and visit a local fruit shop and a chance to try ‘Real Fruit Ice cream’ and sample a few of the New Zealand famous manuka honey products. Our next stop is Gibbston Valley Winery in the Kawarau Gorge area, where we will take a tour through the wine cellar and get the opportunity to taste some of the fantastic varieties of wine that this local Central Otago vineyard produces. Be prepared for the next stop. A stop at the world famous Kawarau Bungy Bridge- the world’s first commercial bridge where AJ Hackett pioneered the sport of bungy into a global phenomenon. You will get the chance to take the jump if you dare (optional) – or simply watch as others take part. Upon arrival we will take a trip to the top of Queenstown Gondola to view the stunning 360 degree surrounds of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables Mountain Ranges. Perhaps try your hand at the luge as you race down the hill (optional). Tonight is a chance to explore some of Queenstown’s nightlife. Queenstown is a hot spot for travellers all over the world and one of New Zealand’s top party capitals. Your accommodation for the next 3 nights is situated in the centre of Queenstown.
The Remarkables Mountains are well known throughout New Zealand and the world as an internationally recognised ski station. Boasting some of NZ’s best beginner terrain and black diamond runs that will leave your heart racing and wanting to get back up for more. The ski field also offers snow tubing and great slopes for intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders. The Remarkables are also the backdrop in many of the acclaimed Lord of the Rings movie scenes. Upon return to Queenstown early evening the rest of the day is for leisure activities.
This morning you will experience the thrills and spills of New Zealand’s most action packed adrenalin jet boat adventure ride. Experience 360 degree spins as your driver skillfully whips the boat past rocky outcrops, skims around crags and boulders, and speeds through the dramatic and narrow canyons at speeds of up to 85km/hr. Upon return to Queenstown the rest of the day is for leisure activities. Options include: Zip-lining, Sky diving, Canyon Swing, Paragliding or for a more relaxed approach a ride on the 100 year old TSS Earnslaw steamship wouldn’t go a miss. Tonight enjoy the nightlife further in some of Queenstown’s iconic bars and perhaps try out the iconic Ice Bar among others.
Today we will take the journey north back through to Christchurch where you will be transferred to your accommodation in the city. We trust that you have had a memorable tour with us.
