We’ve teamed up with Slipper Island Resort and some of our favourite experience providers on the Coromandel Peninsula to bring you a truly special 3 night getaway in paradise!

You’ll stay one night at Ocean’s Resort in Whitianga and experience the famous glass bottom boat cruise along volcanic coastline, including Cathedral Cove, sheer cliff faces, towering pinnacles, incredible rock formations and sea caves. Either enjoy watching the marine life from the comfort of the boat or put on a mask and snorkel and dive in to swim amongst the fish. Equipment is provided.

Following your stay in Whitianga you’ll explore Hot Water Beach where you can dig your own thermal bath in the sand to bathe in!

Next up you’ll head to Tairua where you’ll catch a water taxi to the secluded haven of Slipper Island, where you’ll spend the next two nights. Slipper Island/Whakahau is located 8 kilometres southeast off the coast from Pauanui. The island is 224 hectares, 95% of which makes up Slipper Island Resort. The western and southern sides of the island have white sandy beaches while the northern and eastern parts feature rocky cliffs and dramatic volcanic rock formations. Enjoy ultimate tranquility on the island with free kayak use, or bring snorkelling equipment along, enjoy a nature walk or two or simply laze the day away on the beautiful shoreline of the island.

Slipper Island is a truly stunning New Zealand treasure. Slipper Island Resort makes up 95 percent of the 224 hectare island, meaning Slipper Island Resort’s guests have access to nearly the entire island. This means freedom to explore, safe, sheltered, sandy beaches for swimming, paddling or building sandcastles, wide expanses to hit or kick a ball around, space to fly a kite without powerlines, hills to climb up or mountain bike down—good old-fashioned kiwi fun!

Following your stay on Slipper Island, it’s off to Whangamata where you will prepare for one of the most exceptional experiences in New Zealand – a guided kayak trip to Whenuakara/Donut Island. Donut Island is an incredibly picturesque lagoon located in the middle of a small island just 600 metres off the coast of Whangamata.

Please note the following:

There are no restaurants or shops on Slipper Island so you need to bring all your own food and supplies. Water from the tap on the island is drinkable.

The Water Taxi service from Tairua Marina can on rare occasions not go ahead. You will receive 48 hours notice if the weather does not look suitable for the crossing and alternative accommodation or cancellation with full refund for your Slipper Island Resort accommodation and water taxi will be offered (this excludes refunds for any other inclusions in this package).
