There’s never a bad time to take a trip from Malaysia to New Zealand; however, there are several months of the year that stand out as being the times Malaysian travellers typically prefer to visit:

Early November Through the End of December

In early November, the Hindu festival of Deepavali is an occasion that some Malaysian merry-makers traditionally celebrate with gift-giving, fireworks and specially-prepared meals. They also sometimes choose to celebrate this holiday by travelling to New Zealand.

This is an excellent time of year to visit. Our summer begins in December, so travellers at this time of year will typically enjoy warm, agreeable weather. If you enjoy outdoor sports and activities, it’s especially worthwhile to travel to Auckland during these months.

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year usually falls in the month of February, which is the end of summertime in New Zealand. This is a lovely time of year to visit, as the weather is still pleasantly warm. It’s an ideal time to enjoy outdoor activities such as an adventure tour or Lord of the Rings tour.

The Last Week of May Through the First Week of June

May and June are excellent months to visit New Zealand if you want to take a ski tour, or if you’re looking for an outstanding bargain on your trip. This time of year tends to be cold in the popular travel destination of Auckland. These months are outside the peak travel season, so diligent shoppers can sometimes find enticing travel incentives. Hari Raya Korban and Hari Raya Puasa in July or October

Muslim travellers sometimes choose to spend their Hari Raya holidays with us here in New Zealand. There are many excellent reasons to visit at these times of the year. Skiing and snowboarding are still in full swing in July. By October, we’ve reached the mid-spring season. There’s likely still snow on the ground in some parts of the country, and it’s still outside the peak travel season.

You’re still typically able to find some excellent skiing and snowboarding opportunities to take advantage of at this time. If hiking is the activity you enjoy most, October is a lovely month to visit New Zealand; our hiking trails are un-crowded to the point of being nearly deserted in the month of October. Do be sure to check the weather forecast before you hit the trails.
