Meet The Team

What makes us different is our people...
Chris Cameron
CEO

Travel is a way of life for me. As the Director of The Road Trip, I started the company in 2012 after several years of guiding hiking and biking tours through New Zealand, the UK and France. There was a real gap in NZ and Australia for bespoke touring and the idea excited me that each guest could have a holiday on their terms and visit all the must see places on their bucket list. As a father to 2 young children I love traveling throughout my ‘backyard’ with the family and showing them the incredible nature and culture that we have on our doorstep.

When not thinking up new ideas for growth and new and exciting travel experiences for our guests you can find me hiking and running back country trails, Mountain biking our extensive cycle trail network and kayaking our incredible lakes!

General Manager

I consider myself very fortunate to have had the opportunity of embarking on numerous family adventures throughout Aotearoa/New Zealand during my formative years, which ignited my passion for travel from a young age. When the opportunity arose to guide tours for The Road Trip in 2014, I was thrilled to be offered the chance to show off my own backyard to overseas visitors, and nowadays I take great pleasure in helping to grow this wonderful business and overseeing day to day operations. I get a buzz from planning overseas travel for myself and discovering new experiences, and I love to harness that enthusiasm to tailor bespoke, unforgettable adventures for our guests in New Zealand. Receiving glowing reviews at the end of our guests’ holidays makes all the hard work we put into their one of a kind itineraries worthwhile!

Hey there, fellow adventurers! I’m really excited to share my journey with The Road Trip with you. Travel has always been a huge part of my life, and it became even more special when I became a dad. There’s nothing quite like making lasting memories with my daughter. Over the past seven years, from guiding to becoming fully immersed in planning trips, I’ve developed a real passion for discovering New Zealand’s hidden gems and off-the-beaten-path spots.

What I truly love is designing trips that reflect your unique interests and desires. Whether you're after cultural experiences, outdoor adventures, or a peaceful retreat, I’m here to make sure your journey is crafted just for you. Plus, if you're looking to explore beyond New Zealand, I can combine the best of the South Pacific, including Australia and Fiji, into one unforgettable adventure.

Kia ora future New Zealand explorers! I grew up in Wellington and like most children, I took for granted the amazing trips my parents took me on growing up. When the time came for me to fly the nest I took off! I spent stints living in Canada, the USA, Australia, Mexico and Japan to name a few. The call to eventually come back to New Zealand was always strong, I am so proud of the amazing country I get to call home. Once I made my way back to our corner of the world I knew that was me finished with living overseas, I now call Queenstown home which is in many ways the travelers hub of New Zealand. Queenstown is the core of outdoor activity, in my time not planning your trips you’ll find me skiing, biking, hiking and exploring new places.

Reminiscing now on those trips my parents took me on during my childhood I realise just how lucky I was to grow up in Aotearoa, exploring our beautiful country top to bottom on a regular basis. As an adult returning home my passion for our country has reignited, seeing those places I went to as a child with fresh eyes makes me understand just how fortunate I am, and was, to explore our backyard. I’ve worked in travel for 7 years now. Nothing brings me more joy than being able to showcase what our country has to offer. It would be my privilege to be a part of your New Zealand Road Trip!

Shani
Reservations Specialist

Hi! My name is Shani and I am a member of the Reservations team for The Road Trip. I grew up in a small rural town in the North Island of New Zealand. I called sunny Hawkes Bay home while completing my Diploma in Travel and Tourism, and worked for our national airline at Hawkes Bay (Napier) airport as ground staff. Like all good stories, nothing ever goes as expected! I met my partner, left the travel world behind and moved to the farm 6 years ago! Since then, with his job as a shepherd, we have moved to different parts of New Zealand, and been able to experience our own backyard, which I am truly grateful for. We now call Mossburn (near Te Anau) home together. I have been with The Road Trip since June 2022 and have loved being able to share our small slice of the world with so many visitors from overseas. But also other kiwis! The global events of the last few years has put a hold on my overseas travel dreams, but I would love to explore Scotland and Ireland one day. Growing up in the North Island I was very lucky to experience places like Wellington, Rotorua, and Taupo often. Next on the domestic travel list for me is Stewart Island!

Hola, I’m Yamila! I was born in Argentina from an italian mom and spanish dad, which makes me a fun mix of languages, traditions and cultures. My curiosity for exploring the world brought me to New Zealand in 2012 and what was supposed to be a one year stay, turned out to become my forever home! Prior to moving to New Zealand, I earned my degrees in Business Administration and Hospitality & Tourism in Buenos Aires. Shortly after completing my studies I decided to embark on a work experience overseas and after extensive research, I made it to Queenstown. Best decision ever, no doubts!

Traveling the world has always been a part of my life. I have been fortunate to travel extensively across North and South America, Europe, Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands, New Zealand, and Australia. These experiences have given me valuable insights into different cultures, traditions, and destinations. I believe this firsthand knowledge is crucial in creating personalized and unforgettable travel experiences for you all.

I joined The Road Trip Reservations team in March 2022, and since then I have been making our client’s dream holiday a reality. With over a decade of experience in the travel and hospitality industry, I bring a wealth of expertise to my role. I am here to guide you through the entire booking process, taking care of every detail to ensure that you have a fantastic time while discovering the wonders of this side of the world and creating lifelong memories!
I can’t wait for you all to enjoy The Road Trip of a lifetime!

Tour Guide

I have been taking trips for The Road Trip since 2018 and in that time have met some truly wonderful people from all sorts of places – they range from an 8 month old to a retired Professor of Physics in his 80’s and many, even from years back, still stay in touch via WhatsApp because they so enjoyed their visits. Thats a reflection of the reality that this is a wonderful country to travel around with its spectacular and varied scenery all in a compact package and with New Zealanders being by nature very laid back and friendly people.

In my earlier life I spent a long time exploring the world myself which included 4 years as a tour guide in Europe so this type of work must be in my blood. What those travels did above all though was give me an enhanced appreciation of the very country I came from – NZ is a unique and very special place and it is a pleasure to take visitors around to share everything with them and I really enjoy doing just that.

Aotearoa/New Zealand is like no other country in the world. Each day on tour is an adventure and each adventure is a memory which will last a lifetime. It is a joy and privilege to meet people from all around the world, be their personal guide and part as friends at the end of an extraordinary shared tour.

He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata. What is the most important thing in the world? The people, the people, the people.

Kia ora, something I love about showing people around Aotearoa NZ is the incredible manaakitanga or hospitality of every ordinary Kiwi, we still are a friendly bunch and I like that about us!

Be prepared for random conversations and encounters with curious Kiwi (the human kind). It’s a memory I hope you take away with you from your trip.

I identify as Maori, my tribal area is known as Ngati Awa (the people of the river) and Tuhoe, I have a wealth of stories of our people and our land that I love to share with our visitors. I have lived in India and SE Asia where I designed and led my own Women Only tours and worked across the South Pacific as a chef and guide.

I’m Dianne Sharma-Winter (Di), I look forward to welcoming you to Aotearoa, New Zealand.

Tour Guide

I am originally from the UK and moved to New Zealand in 2011. After a long and varied career in the hospitality industry in the UK, France, the USA and most recently New Zealand, I have now made my home in Blenheim on the South Island. I am father to two grown-up girls, grandfather to two tearaway boys, and pretend that my daughter’s whippet is really mine.

Meeting people from all over the world is something I have been lucky enough to enjoy throughout my career and it is always a great pleasure to spend time with visitors to our country, and to show them the beauty of New Zealand on a road trip. I am also a professional landscape photographer, running small photography workshops and longer trips overseas during our low season. I’m more than happy to offer a few tips to my clients wanting to improve their photography skills!
