The beauty of a personalized trip with The Road Trip means that you can design your tour of NZ to suit your tastes, proving that it does not always need to be a frantic race.
Paula and Nick from Maryland, USA chose to explore the South Island at a leisurely pace, which complemented their vintage and were thrilled with everything on offer.
This included stays at some of our outstanding luxury lodges such as Lake Moeraki Wilderness Lodge, Fiordland Lodge and Stewart Island Lodge plus an overnight aboard ‘The Navigator’ in Doubtful Sound.
There were many highlights, one being the gastronomic experience at Amisfield Winery, where they sampled local delicacies over an 11 course wine matched degustation lunch. Another was the celebratory dinner for their guide Constance’s birthday at the “always booked out”, Francesca’s Italian restaurant in Wanaka.
Paula, who likes to cook wanted to check out a local supermarket and Nick, whose brother races cars at Bonneville, wanted to visit the “Fastest Indian”, housed in a hardware store in Invercargill.
Sadly they did miss out on spotting the Aurora Australis that shimmered across our night sky; however Paula and Nick did see Kiwi in the wild, had close encounters with our cheeky Kea & Kaka parrots and enjoyed their journey across the Southern Alps on the Tranz Alpine train.
