Enjoy a 2 night stay in a remote PurePod on gorgeous Rakiura/Stewart Island. The Tokoeka and Hananui PurePods are nestled amongst native bush behind a predator-proof fence in an eco-sanctuary, part of the southern-most Dark Sky Reserve.
A Stewart Island PurePod stay is a truly wonderful experience. Ensconced in a luxury glass cabin, complete with glass roof, and three walls all of glass with big wide sliding doors and decking, you get to truly immerse yourself in the beautiful natural environment surrounding the PurePod. And, for stargazers, the glass roof and the lack of light pollution ensures on clear nights there are plenty of stars to view. A telescope and star map are provided, so even novice star gazers can have fun identifying the stars.
Experience beautiful views of the native bush surrounding you, as well as magical views down to the bay below. You will be treated to beautiful sunsets, star-gazing and waking to a gentle chorus of birdsong and sunlight reflecting off the water below. You will also have the opportunity for kiwi spotting, right from the comfort of the PurePod, thanks to the special red lighting.
Included in your PurePod also is a kitchenette with gas hob, cooking utensils, pots, pans, fridge, cooking oil, salt, pepper, tea, coffee, sugar and fresh drinking water.
During your full day on Rakiura/Stewart Island, you will also be treated to a leisurely cruise of beautiful Paterson Inlet and a guided walk in Ulva Island Wildlife Sanctuary. The cruise will showcase some of Paterson Inlet’s stunning scenery with its hidden coves and unspoilt beaches. You’ll hear fascinating stories of early Māori history and European settlement, while keeping a look out for fur seals and penguins. Moor at Ulva Island and enjoy a 45 minute guided walk. The island is home to weka, bush robins, rare saddlebacks and yellowheads amongst other species. It is also a protected habitat for some of New Zealand’s rarest plant species.
